Hi Kenny,

I think perhaps the title was unintentionally misleading.

The trend is not that folks are replacing silver with stainless.

The trend we're seeing is that families that use stainless steel sets are passing them down to their children. We have also heard from countless younger people looking for pieces and sets in stainless patterns they remember their mothers and grandmothers using.

I cannot believe that you are seeing a trend of people replacing their sterling silver flatware with stainless steel. I do not think that it makes much sense. I mean, sterling silver can be melted down in times of struggle and it looks so much better on a table. Some people think that it takes more work to wash and clean, but I disagree. You can still put your sterling in the dishwasher and furthermore, it is a piece of art that does not allow germs to breed. Hearing this information makes me sad and hope that this trend deminishes, bringing silver back to the mainstream as it once was.
